Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas join Federer and Nadal at Laver Cup
Created to honor one of the greatest names in the world of tennis, the Laver Cup kicked off in 2017 in Prague on the unique black hard court.
Both Team Europe and Team World will be gathering the best possible field of players for the event.
For the first time, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer shared the same side of the court and the crowd had the opportunity to see some fantastic clashes that went down to the wire.
Roger Federer defeating Nick Kyrgios in the deciding encounter after saving a match point to secure the title for the European squad.
Last year, the action moved to Chicago and this time Team Europe had Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev as the leading figures who once again toppled Team World to lift the beautiful trophy for the second consecutive year.
It was an exciting three-day competition that kept players and spectators entertained both on and off the court.
After two very successful editions, the Laver Cup will find it's new home in Geneva between September 20-22, providing a chance for Federer to compete in front of the home crowd.
Together with other prominent tennis names, including Rafael Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Fabio Fognini, the event should be well received.
They will have to work hard to claim a third consecutive title.
They will be up against a formidable Team World in Kevin Anderson, John Isner, Milos Raonic and Denis Shapovalov.
The organizers have announced two thrilling names that will join the Laver Cup parade in Geneva, with Stefanos Tsitsipas setting a debut for Team Europe and Nick Kyrgios defending the red colors of Team World once again.
Two exciting players have competed together in doubles this summer and it would be interesting to see them in singles in Geneva if their captains pick them to face each other.
"The Laver Cup is a unique and memorable event in tennis, I can't wait to join Team Europe in Geneva," Tsitsipas said.
"For me personally it's like a dream come true to be part of this incredible team, with Roger and Rafa, who I've looked up to since I was a little kid, along with Dom, Sascha and Fabio. In tennis we are always out on the court alone, it's such an individual sport.
It's going to be a new experience for me to play on a team, especially with this team of unbelievable champions, it will be an honor to join all these legends at the Laver Cup."
"I've always said that the Laver Cup is my favorite week of the year, and how much it means to me to get around the team and play for something bigger than just myself," Kyrgios said.
"At the Laver Cup it's not just about me, it's about doing everything I can to help the other guys feel comfortable, prepare for their matches and even give them some energy from the side of the court, if that's what needs to be done.
We've had some heartbreaking losses over the past couple of years and it means the world to me to have the chance to get out there again with the team and try to get the win for Team World."
